FREQ & POWER UPDATE - 20 MARCH 97
The transmitter and its power supply passed the weekend burn in, and Scott Gordon, Paul Cleveland and I nipped into Toronto to bring it back to Peterboro Tuesday afternoon. The plan is that John Matthews and Gord High (from Promethean Electronics) will be here tomorrow (Thurs, 20 Mar 97) to do an install of the new unit and some testing. One of the tests will be on the transmission line (the cable between the transmitter and the antenna). The line will be connected to the new transmitter at one end and a dummy load at the antenna end. The plan is then to gradually increase the power feeding the line up to about 600 watts. The results of testing should tell us in we need to replace it or can carry on with the next step directly. I have scheduled TRadio to be OFF air from about 11:30 to 6pm for tomorrow (20 Mar 97) to do this testing, and am hoping for good weather for John's climb up the CHEX tower.
