Ottawa, 20 January 1997 Decision CRTC 97-25 Trent Radio Peterborough, Ontario - 199606232 Change in frequency and increase in power Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-147 dated 8 November 1996, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CFFF-FM Peterborough, by changing the frequency from 96.3 MHz (channel 242LP) to 92.7 MHz (channel 224A1) and by increasing the effective radiated power from 30 watts to 250 watts. The applicant indicated that these changes are necessary to eliminate interference presently received from co-channel stations CFMK-FM Kingston and CFMX-FM-1 Toronto. The Commission notes that the increase in power will provide secondary coverage to the Hiawatha and Curve Lake Indian Reserves and to the south-western community of Millbrook. The Commission hereby authorizes the licensee to operate the undertaking on the basis of the contours and particulars resulting from the above-mentioned changes. The Department of Industry has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services. In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority will only be granted, at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Industry that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued. This decision is to be appended to the licence. Allan J. Darling Secretary General DEC97-25_0
