For my final project I will be creating a collection of music that personally reflects my current interest and playing abilities. Using the music that was recorded during the class recording succession, I plan to put the edited pieces on a CD that can played for my further enjoyment, or alteration later on. A music recording is reflective of where a musician is at that specific point in their career, so my plan is to book mark that position right now.
I hope to communicate my love for traditional music, but with a more modern spin. Technology has allowed us many technical, and sound editing possibilities that would otherwise would not have been achievable on a smaller scale. I want to take advantage of these possibilities and explore this whole side of music that I have never had the chance to before.
I want to take music that has been around for ages and try to bring new life to it. I would like to explore the possibilities of including Shuttle pipes in a musical composition, where they are part of a whole as compared to the center piece. Usually pipes are the predominate instrument when they are used in a recording, so I want to remove them from this position. I want to place them in the musical back drop of a piece, mixed equally with the rest of the instruments. I would like them to mesh in much the same way that a good bass player and drummer combine their talents to make the rhythm section.
Outline: The music is already recorded and on the computer at Trent Radio, so all I need to do is edit it so that it meets my specifications. Most of this involves trying different effects, levels and equalization in order to achieve the sound that I like. This process will probably take the form of trial and error as I experiment with the sound. From there I plan on burning the pieces onto CD-R. so I can play it back at will.
